Introduction

In this article we consider two crossings recorded in the Old Testament: The crossing over the Red Sea in Exodus 14 and the crossing over the Jordan River in Joshua 3 & 4. These crossings depict memorial experiences for the Israelites. The apostle Paul said that the things recorded in the Old Testament, like these two crossings, are “written for our instruction and encouragement”.
